"MITTAN" coat

MITTAN—founded in 2013 in Osaka, and presently located in Kyoto—strongly opposes the prevailing shift in the attitude towards clothes. At a time when clothing has become distant to us both materially and spiritually, MITTAN aims to return it to its condition as a thing held close, which can be worn for as long as possible, and eventually bid farewell in a more fitting way. To put these values into practice, since the establishment of the brand, MITTAN have developed standard products made primarily of natural materials, offered an explanation of our production methods using QR codes, and bought back worn items in cash. These are only one part of our broader efforts. In addition, we have also been mending and re-dyeing used items.

The examples of mending and re-dyeing introduced suggest the possibility of wearing garments for much longer than would probably be considered usual today. They also provide an opportunity to reconsider the relationship between people and clothes.
